ROMANS 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

We all want to be better, but we do not always want to get better. We are in love with the idea of the destination, but we don't particularly enjoy the journey. If we truly want to become better we have to go through the process of renewing our minds; which is all about restoring our thoughts, feelings, and decisions. The first step in the process of renewal is acknowledging the need for change. But how do we commit to the process? Start with scripture. In God’s word, we find him alive and active and we discover the person of Jesus who sets the standard for our lives. After all, nothing will diagnose us better than the word of God. It not only helps us get rid of unhealthy thoughts but will also allow us to know God's thoughts and apply them to our own thinking.
If you want progress, you are going to have to commit to the process.
We can’t renew our minds on our own, we’re not enough. But God knew this and being a loving Father, sent us the Holy Spirit to be an ever-present help. We have the mind of Christ only by his Spirit.
Jesus calls us to take up our cross and follow him, leaving behind everything He does not desire for us. Renewing our minds through death is the practice of denying our flesh and allowing God to give us the power to control our bodily desires.
Renewing our minds is a process that requires commitment. In order to do so, we need to renew our minds with the word of God allowing it to examine our hearts, be guided by the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives, and die to our flesh and its desires. But it is also important to renew our minds for good. And the way we are able to do that is doing good works for others. Use what you do to change your mind and then use your mind to change what you do. We need to change our mindset from resolution to resolve if we want to see real progress in our lives.
Take the time to identify a scripture from Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Colossians, or Titus that you can memorize this week. As you do, be encouraged to know that you are taking steps to renew your mind with the thoughts of Christ.
