Proverbs 4:5-7 NIV
“Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

We live in a culture that strives to look “rich,” neglecting the blessing that it is to be wealthy. When we hear both of these terms, it's common to assume they mean the same thing, but their weight is entirely different. Being rich, you can see it. It’s loud, flashy, and often unrealistic. In contrast, wealth is unseen, unknown to many, and silently wise, like finding a hidden treasure. Wealth isn't just given, but it's gained over time by living out wise principles and Godly stewardship. The first and foremost revelation that is important to live a wealthy life is to want to work for it! God created the earth and everything in it, including us, in 6 days. On the 7th, he rested. It is our nature as children of God to work and rest, leading us to a life of wealth and wisdom.
Nothing is worse than million dollar dreams with hundred dollar work ethic.
True wealth comes from seeking God’s wisdom before doing anything else. When we seek to understand God’s ways and his heart, we gain the fruits of the Spirit, which help us discern between the temporary riches of the world and Godly wealth earned through faithful stewardship.
“Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”- Proverbs 10:4
In life, all things require intentionality and investing. Things such as family, friends, and even finances. God has been evident in his word that we are not called to serve money but rather allow money to serve us, and all God wants to do through us. We, as believers, value generosity, and to live a generous life, we must have the means to give! A penny saved is a penny earned. We don't need to be saving for something; we can start now and save something!
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.- 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Proverbs tells us to walk with the wise and become wiser. When stewarding God’s money, and walking towards wealthy living, it's important who we surround ourselves with, and the counsel we take into our lives. God desires to see his people succeed and thrive. He isn’t trying to take away from you but rather bless you in all forms and areas of your life. The greatest thing we can do is gain understanding, and God is blessing his people with the tools to do so.
Take a moment this week to evaluate your finances and determine whether you're telling your money where to go or, instead, you’re wondering where your money went. Form a budget, and begin putting a name to every dollar. Stewardship will take you far; recklessness will leave you scrambling.
