“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:18

Sin committed by us, to us, and around us can create pain points and trauma in our lives. Then oftentimes to avoid more pain, we create blindspots and adapt to the brokenness, because it hurts to pass through the process of being healed. It’s painful and hard, but we don’t have to do this by ourselves. God is the healer, and He wants to heal us. He is a perfect father, and He loves and accepts us with all of our wounds. He’s waiting for us to bring all of our hurt to His feet and allow Him to do what only He can do. He can do beautiful things with all our brokenness, we just need to trust Him.
Don’t get used to the brokenness
Brokenness can be reflected in different ways each of which God can heal:
“Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.” Proverbs 4:23
At times, we may not feel like we are even close to righteousness. However, the mere thought of Jesus becoming sin so that we can be righteous leaves us in awe of His healing grace.
“He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
God offers forgiveness to us through the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus’ life. By believing in Christ are now made new and have the promise of everlasting life with our Heavenly Father. Comparatively, as God forgives us of our transgressions, and the numerous ways by which we wrong others, he orders us to forgive each other. The heart-mending takes place when we recognize and surrender our pain to Jesus, whose healing endures far beyond the hurt.
Identify which of the 4 common heartaches you are struggling with (bruised heart, performance heart, addictive heart, hardened heart). It could be one or it could be all four. Then, repent for your role in perpetuating the pain and pray that God would deliver you from those heartaches. Finally, seek practical biblical handles that will bring forth forgiveness, healing, and freedom: Build community and accountability with fellow Christians, set boundaries around those who hurt you, and live a more disciplined life free from sin.
