Mark 2:21-22
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins —and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.

Imagine you are learning to drive a manual transmission car. One of the most difficult things to learn while driving manually is learning how to shift gears. If you are unable to do this, you face the potential to stall. Similarly, we can become stalled in our lives if we are unable to shift our mindset. When we become too attached to our old ways of thinking, we may miss out on something new that God is trying to do. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are called to shift our mindset from always being concerned to having supernatural confidence. From living in the mindset of scarcity to standing secure in the abundance of God. What do you think would happen if you began surrendering the old, and accepting the new?
A small shift can make a big difference
Sometimes we live in a constant state of worry. As a matter of fact, 80% of the thoughts we have every day are negative. That’s why it's so important for us to hold on to the truth in God’s word and walk confidently knowing that he’s going to come through in whatever season we find ourselves in. Afterall, our confidence doesn’t come from what we can do, but from what God is able to do.
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 1:6
Going down a paved pathway that leads nowhere can seem safer than creating a new pathway. God is calling us to let go of our scarcity mindset and create a new pathway that constantly reminds us that God is the God of more than enough. He doesn’t only wish to bless us, but he wishes to bless us more than we could ever think or imagine. It’s time to stop clinging to things in fear. God’s desire is that we live a life of abundance and it all starts with our thoughts.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Psalms 23:1 NKJV
Walking with Jesus requires growth founded on the truth of God’s word. As we shift our minds to rely on Christ instead of ourselves, impossible turns into an ‘I’m possible’ Godfidence. Remember, small shifts can change reality. In our case, we deserved death, yet Jesus shifted and took our place so that we could live a life of faith and abundance. We have a ‘hupomone’, a triumphant fortitude in Christ, as we accept His love and redeeming power. This is truth: Knowing, believing, and applying the truth to our lives sets us free. Because our God is good, we can trust in him to renew our minds from the inside out, pushing us forward with hearts that mold from concerned to confident, from a mindset of scarcity to a mindset of abundance, and from a fixed posture to one that embraces the gift of growth.
Starting this week, begin each day by reading Philippians 1:6, until you’ve memorized it and can recite it by heart.
-“Being CONFIDENT of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”- Philippians 1:6
Take a toll of your negative thoughts and set a goal to decrease these numbers on a daily basis. After memorizing this verse, commit to speaking this truth over every negative thought you have throughout your day.
