Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

I won’t believe it till I see it. How many times has that phrase crossed our minds? How many times did it show up in our prayers? This is no guilt trip, but this is a wake up call. We must realize that we’re missing out on purpose if everything is about the here and now, if all we dwell on is the natural and forget the spiritual. Our metrics for success need to be redefined because the long game is longer than we think. Just look at how it is defined in Hebrews - heros who believed but didn’t see the full expression of what they hoped for. Yet their work was not in vain. They didn’t lose. It was faith that carried them through purpose bigger than themselves. Short-sighted vision, giving up, and living for the moment were not among their attributes. Rather, they pushed past discouragements to pass on the torch and build firm foundations for those to come after them. They saw themselves clearly in the long history God was putting together and gladly they joined in. So too, God is calling us to more. He is calling us to live faith-filled lives that will see value beyond our present moment and central to his saving purposes on earth.
Faith is about the future and the unseen.
Where is the source of our strength? It certainly does not come from ourselves. Giving credit where it’s due, our strength to endure comes from the power of the Holy Spirit. It is his name that covers, seals, and protects us.
We can be inspired by more than what the world deems as worthwhile. We can be inspired by eternity and our hopeful inheritance promised in God’s word. God's ways are greater than what we could ever dream or imagine.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Leah, Rahab. The list is still running, will we add our names to it? Can we be so bold to see what others cannot and share it? To tell the world that promises aren’t being broken, they're being built and carried through the long game? The heroes listed in Hebrews had faith to know that theirs was a piece to the larger puzzle being put together. The recipe to their passionate waiting had one ingredient, faith. Let that be our inspiration as we move forward with no regrets. Our legacy becomes long and multi-generalional when we transition faith from being just an idea to being part of the DNA of who we are. Our faith will enable us to see the distance between our present troubles and future shared inheritance and wave. Let us remove the focus off of ourselves and zoom in on what God is doing to impact generations to come.
Put on your spiritual eyes. This week find intentional moments of silence and meditation to hear the whispers of the Holy Spirit on what he will have you do for those to follow after you.
