John 4:7-13
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” 11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Have you ever been outside on a hot summer day without any water to drink? At some point, I bet you would settle for any drink that came across your path, although not all options would quench your thirst. Soda, for example, may temporarily satisfy the need, but always ends up making you more dehydrated in the end. Similarly in our lives, when we are thirsty enough for something we will quench our thirst with anything, even if it is something we know will only satisfy temporarily. There can be many reasons why we become thirsty or feel that there is a void that needs to be filled in our lives. Maybe you still have hurt from your past that you need to heal from like childhood trauma. Or perhaps you lack trust due to a past heartbreak. Regardless of the cause of the void, we must remember that Jesus is the only one who can fill it. He helps us be wise in the present, and prepare for the future. Jesus is a well of living water that will never run dry, and will quench our thirst forever in any circumstance.
Only Jesus can satisfy any area of your life that is thirsty
Healthy relationships require discernment. Being wise in our relationships means looking beyond what the eye can see. We must recognize only God can fill our voids.
The choices you make today will affect your future. Establishing healthy habits is key in preparing for all God has for you.
A spiritually hydrated individual knows who they are in Christ. They have taken the time to understand their fears, needs, wants and desires but chooses God to be present in every area and situation of life. Security starts with being honest with your past and deciding to heal the wounds and forgive yourself and others for the pain you experienced. It requires you to work on your present circumstances and ask God to fill in the areas that are lacking. A secure individual also knows the direction they are heading to. They are obedient to fulfilling God's purpose for their life and chooses people to walk with them in that purpose. You no longer thirst for things in this world but are complete with God and by God.
Take an inventory of your life: character, health, mental, emotional, spiritual, relationships. Reflect on the areas that you need Jesus. Make a commitment to God and set an intention on the direction to hydrate that area in Christ.
