JOHN 8:31-32
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed him, ‘If you continue in my word you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’.

Do you feel like you are alone? Or that you are unworthy of love? These are among the many lies the devil tells about our singleness and relationships to make us doubt ourselves and what God has told us. We are tempted to think that we are stuck because we are single or that we need a spouse for security. The more we listen to those lies, the more we start to believe them. That’s why it is so important to know the truth and apply it. The truth is, we can be single and secure in God.
Healthy relationships are built on healthy individuals.
Have you ever been ordering fast food and the person taking your order asks, “Will that complete your order?” As we go through life, we may select idols to complete us: ourselves, others, the world, or even religion. However, the only way we can find true fulfillment is by being connected to God in an intimate way. Idols, much like fast food, will never satisfy our cravings, but Jesus always will.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” —John 15:5
We are able to love because God loved us first and we can only love others when we learn to love ourselves. In our sin, Christ has already deemed us worthy of love. We only need to accept the love given to us and allow it to overflow to others.
“The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” —Mark 12:31 NIV
What are the gifts in your current season that you have left unwrapped? What is the blessing that God has for you? For every lie the enemy tells, we have these three truths: 1) Jesus completes you, 2) you are worthy of love, and 3) every season has a blessing. God will always meet your needs. So take courage in obeying the direction to unwrap the odd-shaped gifts you weren’t expecting.
Think back to a blessing that came unexpectedly from a difficult season, then refer to and use this memory as a pillar of God’s secure presence and love in your current season.
