[lead dropcap="yes"]The new year is approaching ever so quickly, and with the blink of an eye, 2017 will be upon us. This season ushers in a new chapter at VOUS church, as well as in each of our lives. It is an appropriate time for our hearts to cast faith and hope for what God has in store for the new year to come. For some though, it is a difficult time, given life's circumstances, to find anything to grasp on for hope or a place to belong.[/lead]Fortunately, at VOUS, people are our heart. Come rain or shine, our servant leaders work together to create a home for all. Whether it be the welcoming waves of the Parking Team or the southern hospitality extended by those in our Welcome Team, those who need a fresh wind of hope can always find it here.DawnCheré Wilkerson spoke hope into our hearts as she continued in the collection of talks, "An Anchor Called Hope," designed to encourage all during this season through our anchor found in Jesus. She landed on a passage in Romans 4:18-21 where Abraham, against all hope, in hope believed in the promise given to him by God that he will be the father of many nations. Abraham did not waver in unbelief, but rather grew in his faith knowing that God had the power to do what he had promised. Many of us are believing for great things and are hoping for our promises to be fulfilled but may not be seeing them instantly come to pass. So how do we, like Abraham, against all hope, in hope believe?
We must simply face these facts:
The Natural
The message of the gospel is not to walk through life pretending like everything is okay but to be honest with your reality and recognize through the circumstances, trials, and physical challenges that God is able to work on your behalf.
The Supernatural
You must know in whom you place your hope and have the assurance in whose presence you walk. God, who is able and has the resources, can and will supply your needs. God supersedes your natural circumstances.
The Eternal
Abraham carried eternity in his heart and knew that this life was not the end. The promises given to him were serving an eternal purpose, destined to be fulfilled long after his death. In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 we’re taught that the natural will pass away but eternity in God's glory is our ultimate promise. As we walk with the Lord, we can rest easy in his eternal promises over our lives.
"God will give you promises that will span generations."DawnCheré Wilkerson
Do not lose hope or waver in your faith if you do not see the full promise God placed over your life come to pass right away. Like Abraham, do not allow a miracle from God to distract you from the ultimate promise set forth for you. Face the facts this season, recognize your reality (the natural), know that a supernatural God is working on your behalf to fulfill his promises in and through you, and rest in knowing that the light of eternity is our ultimate promise. What aspects of "the natural" can you turn over to God and set your mind on "the eternal" this season?
