[lead dropcap="yes"]How many times have you experienced something so excellent, that you have to raise the bar in your own personal performance? Approaching life with a spirit of excellence is contagious. If you carry the spirit of excellence, those whom you interact with will suddenly feel compelled to try a little harder and raise their own standard of work.[/lead]The impact that excellence has on us is synonymous to the effect that results when a boat, in still water, blazes a path causing the water to ripple, affecting every boat that follows. Similarly, the church must create a global, ripple effect through a spirit of excellence.King Solomon, a man of wisdom, a man destined for greatness, from birth, was conceived out of an affair. Despite this, Solomon was born with the peace of God within him.

God had a calling for Solomon’s life, the same calling that God has for all our lives.

God called Solomon to build His house. Accepting this calling, Solomon asked God for the wisdom to lead His people. Solomon was not stronger or smarter than anyone else, but he had the desire to understand the word of God. This desire propelled his wiliness to learn and grow exemplifying excellence.

Excellence is our Spirit

Living a life that exemplifies excellence is not just a Sunday duty; it is a 24-hour commitment.

So, you may ask yourself, how can I live a life of excellence?

There are three things that are important to living a life of excellence:

1. Lay a Firm Foundation

2. Play Your Part

3. Come Prepared

1. Lay a Firm foundation

Building a foundation isn’t glamorous and may not come easy but the foundation, which is vital to any project, often takes time. It may take long, but keep in mind: It’s often quicker to tear something down than to build it up. Building a foundation begins with the end in mind; the details of the structure are already decided. To start, we must ask ourselves: What do I want to achieve?

2. Play Your Part

We all have an important part to play in building the kingdom God. There is a place for every gift, talent, and attribute. Remember: God calls us to be a beaming, bright light amongst the darkness. No one’s light over-shadows another. Stay in your lane; do what you do best. Do it with excellence! Start using what God has given you for His Glory and see your excellence manifest.

3. Come Prepared

The spirit of excellence takes time. Prepare your gifts, learn and craft them; prepare your heart, commit, spend time with God, and watch Him do something supernatural in your life. Invest time rather than spend it and watch God transform your life!

Do you know Him, today?

Often, we set our own goals and standards not realizing the limits we place on our destiny. The goal should not be to achieve our own standards but to have a spirit of excellence, excellence that showcases who we are in Christ.

A spirit of excellence starts with the desire to understand the word of God, with understanding being a part of the community of God. Excellence, is not a destination (perfection), but more of a journey, a journey of digging deeper, a journey that we must be ready for, once we seek it.
