[lead dropcap="yes"]C.S. Lewis paints a beautiful picture of God’s creativity and love for each of us. He says that our individual place in Heaven will seem perfectly tailored for us because it was designed for us stitch by stitch, as a glove is made for a hand. God is the ultimate creator, and when we do our parts collectively, he gets all of the glory.[/lead]During our final Creative Collective of 2016, Pastor Rich shared his message Heaven On Earth. In it, he challenges us to step away from the passive approach of waiting to go to Heaven, and opt instead to step into an active faith of bringing Heaven to earth. As creatives, we have an opportunity to show the world the mysteries of God through our art, whatever form it takes.
Three practical fundamentals in bringing Heaven down to earth:
Sight
With heaven’s sightline, we have the comfort and the courage to understand that the mountains in our lives are a lot smaller than they may seem.So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. Colossians 3:1-2We need the sight of Heaven so that we have the right perspective. With a heaven perspective, we think heaven thoughts, and with heaven thoughts, we speak heaven words, which we use each day to inspire our community.
Spirit
Can you take the joy of the Lord into all that you do? Even in the mundane, we can bring Heaven to earth when we bring a joyous spirit to our work, our art and our lives. By keeping the right attitude, we can change the atmosphere and bring the spirit of Heaven into every situation we encounter.
Sound
Music is one of the most practical ways we can bring Heaven down to earth. We need to develop a sound of worship in all that we do, collectively raising our voice, giving all glory to God. There is no need to wait. Heaven is in us, and through music, we offer a glimpse of the sounds of heaven.Nothing about life will ever compare to eternity with God. However, we don’t have to live our lives waiting for Heaven, because Heaven is in us now. May we have the sight to believe in something bigger than ourselves. Let our service to God and to others be the key that unlocks the door to Heaven on earth. As we walk through our days in faith, in everything that we say and we create, may there be a distinct sound - Holy Holy Holy.
