They came in droves: all exuding a sense of expectancy, a need for something more, something bigger than themselves. That something: to encounter the presence of our living God, a presence with the power to change everything. The conference ambiance was set, the colorful stage lights and animated back screens were accompanied by the beautiful voices of the praise and worship team. The presence of the Lord was felt throughout the entire building as everyone from conference attendees, to greeters, to audio technicians, and others, gathered excitedly to hear the messages from some of the world's foremost spiritual leaders.

The place was filled with the all-consuming Fire of Jesus Christ as attendees were anointed with His word. With looks of hope, conviction, and paths to strengthen or initiate a personal faith, attendees exited with preparation to face the wilderness.

Conference Sunday

The Space Between Us

Erwin McManus

We move in different spaces as human beings but we seldom recognize the purpose of such spaces.  But on this Conference Sunday, Pastor Erwin McManus took the stage and poured out his heart by showing us how important we are in the process to our existing spaces.Pastor Erwin took us on a journey with a story of Paul in Acts 17 and introduced us to this concept of The Space Between Us and how people follow us before they follow Jesus. He did so by noting three of them that shape us and increase our influence with the world around us, and they are:1.  First Space - this is our house.  The house can be likened to the church where it seems people get comfortable because of others who look or speak like them.  But the church isn't about us.  We must remind ourselves that it isn't us, as Christ followers we're not against the world but are FOR the world. The greatest gift we can give to our world is a place to belong.2.  Second Space - this is where we work or "the marketplace" as the story in Acts. He challenged us to be effective witnesses in our work spaces by being the best in what we do.3.  Third Space - this should be our ultimate goal; the space where people around us invite us into their world.  Before the city can come to know Jesus, they must come to know us first. We are important in the process. We need to ask ourselves how much space is between us and Jesus and how much space is between us and those who need Jesus - as we interact with others and go through our day.

I Got More Than What I Came For

Robert Madu

Pastor Robert Madu took the 6pm “turn up” service to a whole new level! We got to cap off Vous Conference weekend by going to another dimension in our faith walk with his message.Pastor Robert reminded us that God wants to give us a new revelation of Himself when our experiences don't line up to our expectations of Him. He shared the story in the book of Mark, of the paralytic that was brought into a house from the ceiling, so that Jesus would heal Him. Expectation grew as Jesus entered a home, to rest. The men who transported the paralytic believed He could do what had not been done before, heal the man. Jesus first response? He forgives the man of His sins. Jesus did not meet the men’s expectations, but He did meet his needs. That thing we've been praying about for, that's taking time to show fruit could be a set up from God to show up in a miraculous way. By dealing with the root of the issue first, before we see the apparent change materialize, God is meeting our needs before He gives us what we ask.
