[lead dropcap="yes"]Our heart is for ALL people. All people are loved by Jesus. We make no apologies for being specifically focused on reaching those far away from God. We desire to bring the broken home at all costs. We believe that our light is best seen in the night.[/lead]At VOUS Church we believe that people are our heart. Having an artistic building, cool worship music and amazing graphics is great, but without people, without the community we’re trying to reach, without Jesus being the center of it all to see, there’s no point to it.A church isn’t a building. It’s a whole body of people that make up Christ. In order for Jesus to be our message, we have to have his heart for people.
No one said it would be easy
People are complicated. We all have flaws and imperfections. We’re all different in so many ways and we tend to judge each other before we even interact. It can be hard to engage let alone genuinely love others. It takes pushing past walls and knocking on the doors of hearts probably turned cold. It’s a challenge to love people. But once the walls come down, we can have a heart-to-heart connection with that person. And we'll see that they’re not all that different from us.When we see people as God sees people, we’ll learn to see the best in them and their flaws will be diminished. That’s where the love begins.
Doing Life Together
It was never God’s intention for man to be alone. Life is meant to be lived with others and that’s why community is so important.Having people in our lives who love and encourage us helps with our walk with Jesus. Hearing different perspectives on certain situations in our lives can help us find a resolution.Even more important is the concept of fellowship and praying together. There’s something powerful about getting together with a group of people to talk about God.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. - Matthew 18:20
Faith is boosted when we gather together in prayer. And it’s a blessing to celebrate with others when prayers are answered.Fellowship shows the love of God. Those who don’t know Jesus can know him by observing how we love each other and how we love on them.
It Starts With an Invitation
When we let go of our judgements and allow God to open our eyes to how he sees people, the way we see people will change. The more we get to know Jesus, the more we want others to get to know him.We have the opportunity to invite others to learn about Jesus. Whether we invite someone from work, school, or a random stranger to crew or an I Love My City event, we’re inviting them to not only know Jesus but to fellowship and be a part of God’s kingdom.Having a heart for people may be difficult to grasp but the key is to pursue God because the closer you get to his heart, the more it’ll transform yours. So talk to that co-worker, invite your classmate to church, have lunch with them, cry with them, heal with them, be the Jesus they can see.You may be the only one.
