The purpose of your life is one of the most precious gifts God has given you. It’s filled with hope, meaning and a future better than what you imagined.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” - Jeremiah 29:11

Whether we realize it or not, we are always following something or someone. And eventually what we are following is what we are becoming. So the question is, what or who are we following?

When Jesus said, “I’ll make you fishers of men” to his disciples, he not only invited them to join him, but he also gave them purpose. In the same way, Jesus calls us to follow him not only to make our lives better, but to give us a purpose. Just like the scripture says, God’s plans for our lives are to prosper us and give us hope and a future. But are we willing to receive those plans and follow them instead of ours?

The best way to find our purpose and walk in it is to give up our own will for our lives and ask God for his. And instead of going around in circles trying to figure out what that purpose looks like, why not decide to just follow him? When we do that, we position ourselves to hear from God as he reveals our purpose. And as he works through us, it starts to become a reality.

Why don’t you start this day talking to God, surrendering your plans and your life, and decide to follow him? Ask him to reveal to you what he wants you to do, where he wants you to go, and who he wants you to talk to and be with. Trust him, trust in his plans, and trust him with the purpose of your life.
