[lead]Understanding what you believe and why you believe it is powerful. Our actions and behaviors are a reflection of our thought life. What do your actions say about you?[/lead]We all have to build our lives off of something. What we focus on tends to be what we are led by. Where your heart is, your mouth and feet will follow. Being self-aware isn't about knowing what you are, it's about knowing who you are. Knowing our WHY determines HOW we operate.Becoming more self-aware can take some work, but we’ve laid out some reasons why it's the key to a more effective life.
1. SELF AWARENESS GIVES YOU A DIRECTION
Two of the most important days in your life are the day you're born, and the day you figure out why! All of us are seeking purpose. We all want that tingly feeling that comes with fulfillment. But, what are we doing to find out what fulfillment means to us? In order to possess it, we have to assess it.
- What are you passionate about?
- Where do you spend your time?
- What do you talk about with your friends?
- Where do you spend your money?
Do the answers to these questions align with the story you want to write?
2. SELF AWARENESS ALLOWS YOU TO FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST
When you focus on your strengths, you simply get more done. You’re more efficient, and you start to direct your energy towards tackling the things that are most important, rather than being distracted by the things labeled “urgent.” Over time, you start to notice that you make a greater impact when you focus on the tasks that align with your strengths. When you bog yourself down with so many things that you're only marginally good at, you hinder your overall effectiveness.
3. SELF AWARENESS ALLOWS YOU TO BUILD UP OTHERS
Knowing who you are and what your purpose is will ultimately lead to a stronger you! When you’re at your strongest, you have the resources to strengthen those around you. Freedom is found in relationships. Change happens in community. Self-awareness leads to mass awareness. Success comes from the quality of the decisions we make. Do our decisions consider and raise up those around us, or only ourselves? Everything we do in life leaves a ripple. Once we’re self-aware, we can choose what kind of impact we want to make.
