[lead dropcap="yes"]To understand the creative process, we first must realize that we are all called according to God's purpose. God has a plan and purpose for every single individual. He has a creative plan for you![/lead]Creativity is often reduced to whether or not you can paint, play an instrument, sing, or design a cool shirt. But these are only outlets of creativity. Creativity in its most basic form is putting things together so they work. God has creatively planned our lives to be worked into something good. Creativity is a process, and while many different things make up the creative process we want to share three:Creativity is a . . .
1. WAITING PROCESS
Most part of life is waiting. Creativity is no different. Waiting on an idea. Waiting on a thought. The Bible says, “for the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.” Someone is craving what God has put on the inside of you. There is something in you that must be done, and creation waits in eager anticipation for such to be accomplished.Waiting is far from easy. Some of us hail from fast-paced cities where many services are catered to our convenience, to the point that we’ve become allergic to waiting. But to get what we need in life, we have to wait. So it is with the gifts God has placed in us. It is during those times of waiting that those said gifts, and us as people, mature.
2. GROWING PROCESS
You’ve waited, and now you’ve got an idea -- but an idea is rarely good in its first stage. It’s like having a seed, but you, as the owner of the seed, have to go through the process for the seed to grow into its original purpose. Romans 8 reminds us: “That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother.” Waiting enlarges us. We must let our idea, our dream, our purpose grow and develop to its full maturity. During the development stage, we start seeing the details.
3. DETAILED PROCESS
The most creative being, God, has great attention to detail. We catch a glimpse of his creativity in the Old Testament as he instructed David to build his temple. The details were so precise from the measurements of the rooms to the decor of the tables’ dinnerware (1 Chronicles 28).If such attention was just for his temple, think of how he sees you. He calls us his masterpiece. He has already completed the works he placed in us but our duty is to discover them. Proverbs 25:2 puts it this way: “It is God’s privilege to conceal things and king’s privilege to discover them.” The great joy in all this is, we’re not left alone to uncover such gifts. We get to work with the one who already made us creatives.
