[lead dropcap="yes"]It was anything but a typical Thursday night in Wynwood. As troops of women filled the halls of Jose De Diego Middle School, the place we call home, it was obvious that this was going to be a good night. [/lead]From the courtyard with its tropical leaf neon-infused VOUS Girl photo-op, fashion pop-up, and colorful details— to the jam-packed auditorium filled with women, God’s presence filled the place with expectancy and excitement.
I'm With Him
As fearless, limitless, and ageless women, we have to understand the premise to our story. A premise is the back story that gives context to a future revelation. The premise of any story is vital; we would be lost if we opened a book or started watching a movie in the middle of the story. The first pages of a book and the first few minutes of a movie lay a valuable foundation of the story. Likewise, in order for us to make sense of our future, we have to know our premise. The question is: what is your premise? Some of our premises are rooted in fear, insecurity, abandonment, addiction, and self-worth. Everything we do springs from our premise and that fear and insecurity touches and taints every aspect of our life, but there is hope and that hope is salvation. God’s grace creates a brand new premise. The word of God says old things have passed away and all things are new. The premise for every season forward is that we have the love of Jesus.
We stand on the shoulders of generations of fearless, limitless, and ageless women. We carry the legacy of Sarah and Rahab and all the sisters before us. Dawncheré Wilkerson
We were gifted with the ability to imitate Jesus. As we imitate Him, we become our authentic self, just as we were uniquely created. Imitating Him surfaces and exposes our own gifts and integrity. We were created to imitate Jesus, not each other. If we compare ourselves to the women, we will be disillusioned and disappointed. Comparison is a thief, but sisterhood builds strength.[cta heading="Photo Booth Pics" subtext="Grab your photo booth pic and share! #vousgirl" actiontext="Get Photos" link="http://www.vousgirl.com/pics"]
